In facts dogs spend almost half of their life by sleeping. This sleeping habit can be varying according dog breed and time we spend with them. We have to know that dogs live by their natural instinct. In the wild life dog commonly sleep on longer grass so they will be safe from other predators. Before the dogs sleep they will trample down the grass in circle way to make their own bed, that’s why our dog also make circle movement before going to lay down on dogs beds, it is natural instincts.

Dogs Beds are one of important dog equipments when you own dogs or puppies. These dogs beds can affect the dogs’ overall health …

It’s fun and exciting to meet new dogs especially cute puppies that are so lovely and cuddly, a few weeks ago I got the chance to interact with two unique looking dogs named Storm & Allyana, and they are both handsome, pretty and quite healthy as well. Honestly, these are the dogs that I would immediately adopt without second thoughts, good temperament, fit and attractive. What I admire about these dogs is that they are mixed breeds and the gene combination came out well. The owners are so lucky to have them and they are indeed proud to show their pets around. I’m quite confident that the owners of Storm and Allyana are dog loving and caring people who always look onto the wellness of the their pets.

Meet Storm a 7 months male Chihuahua-Schnauzer mixed. This dog is so smart that it didn’t even take a while for him to learn to sit and stay.

I have always been enamored by the Great Dane. One might argue that this huge and majestic creature more closely resembles a small horse than a dog. Either way, the beautiful Great Dane is sure to stand out in a crowd. But it is more than looks that makes this breed stand out. The personality of the Great Dane is unforgettable. These dogs are gentle, playful, friendly and incredibly loyal. When Danes are young and not fully trained, they may not know their size and strength. However, with age and proper training, they usually become gentle giants.

I’m not a big television viewer. Sure, I have a few shows I enjoy, but I’m not necessarily up to date on the latest in new TV. As an animal lover, I like watching Animal Planet from time to time. However, I did not find out about a certain new show until just yesterday. Now that I know about it, I think it’s something many of you will enjoy as well. The new series is called Last Chance Highway, and will be airing Saturday nights on Animal Planet. The show focuses on a small group of dog rescuers in the Southeastern U.S who save homeless and unwanted dogs and help them find wonderful homes. These dogs are typically transported to adoptive families in the Northeast. I had the opportunity to check out a sneak peek of the first episode of Last Chance Highway, and it had me rather choked up.

Many people worry that if they play tug-of-war with their dog (or “tug”) that they will be teaching their dog to be aggressive. They’re afraid that playing tug with their dog can lead to problems with dominance. Are they right to be worried? Does tug-of-war teach aggression?

Actually, many recent studies have shown that dogs who enjoy rough house play with their owners were generally considered better socialized than dogs who didn’t. These dogs also had less separation anxiety. This included games of tug-of-war. These dogs were considered more confident without being “dominant” or “aggressive.” These studies did not find any connection between playing tug-of-war and developing aggression or dominance. (Rooney and Bradshaw, 2003; Goodloe and Borchelt, 1998) J. O’Heare, in Aggressive Behavior In Dogs (2007) writes: “The relationship between tug-of-war and dominance aggression appears to be a myth.” (Ottawa: DogPsych Publishing).

There is no reason why you shouldn’t enjoy playing tug-of-war with your dog as long …

In the minds of most kids, dogs are warm furry cuddly companions who love to be hugged and squeezed.

However, this isn’t always the case.

Different dogs have different temperaments, and from an early age children need to learn how to treat dogs respectfully. This will help reduce the incidence of dog attacks on children, and allow them to live peacefully together.

The term “temperament” refers to a dog’s general attitude and outlook. Dog temperament not only varies between breeds, but between individuals within a breed. For example, working breeds are known to be active and may not like to sit still, whereas terriers can be tenacious and quite strong willed.
When choosing a dog, take into account a dog’s temperament. If you have older children, you may be happier with an active dog that will rough and tumble with them. If you have younger children, you may prefer a quieter dog. Puppies and elderly dogs may be afraid of noisy children, and defend themselves with a nip.

Another important aspect of dog temperament is trainability. Intelligent dogs who are easy to train, and learn what’s expected of them quickly, are easier to teach to fit the family lifestyle. However, these dogs are often easily bored, and may be destructive if they don’t have enough mental stimulation.

It’s often easier to predict temperament with purebred dogs, as they tend to have a characteristic demeanor. Many breeders are now performing temperament testing to match …

Since I’m on the subject of dog sports this week, I though it fitting to feature the Border Collie. Most dog sports are open to just about any breed of dog, but the Border Collie is the poster child for dog sports. These intelligent and driven herding dogs have boundless energy. They thrive when given a job, which is why they tend to excel at dog sports.

The Border Collie is definitely not the right breed for everyone. Unfortunately, some people find they are in over their heads if the get a BC without researching first. These dogs need to work – whether that means herding sheep, competing in disc dog competitions, or tearing up your house. Don’t let the latter happen – give your BC a job. And, if you are thinking about adding this breed to your home, <a …
